Mariah Carey was forced to defend herself as not using AI for her Spotify Artist special. This was a missed opportunity for her to come out and own it. The longer artists continue to hide behind not using AI, while using it on the side, the harder they are making it for themselves in the future.

During the Red Sea Festival, producers argued that AI can only augment humans not fully replace them. 2025, is going to be the year we find out how true that is. I still expect many people in-industry are in for a rude awakening when they realize how much can be accomplished with a limited number of people.

a few years ago, I wrote a thread about having a Socrates/private tutor for every student, and Khanmigo from Khan Academy seems to be approaching that vision. However, I think it has two major issues:

  1. It's still inside-the-box thinking, not trying to truly innovate education, but rather improving schools with a little help.

  2. Sal Khan said in an interview that he wants to have every student in a classroom, which I would read as him wanting the public school system to exist. He wants to sell the software to the public school system.

When you have this kind of thinking, it feels misguided, which makes you think there's still a massive opportunity for someone to disrupt education using AI that we have not arrived at yet.

Schools are going to have a harder and harder time in the future unless they figure out a way to rein in deepfakes. There's been a recent trend of people using voice cloning software to clone teachers' or administrators' voices making offensive remarks. To me, the bigger problem is likely going to be people utilizing AI undressme apps to create fake nudes of someone. And potentially bullying and threatening someone with these fake pictures. I worry that there's going to be tremendous harm unless there's either better safeguards or protections put in place for kids.
