Looking Ahead

What to Expect in 2025

As we wrap up 2024, I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for being part of the RTB community. Your support and engagement have been invaluable, and I'm truly thankful for your continued interest in the newsletter.

Looking ahead to 2025, I'd like to share some key trends I anticipate in the world of AI:

Music Industry Collaboration

This year we saw Record Labels and GenAI Music companies go to war. In 2025, I expect they settle for peace. We will see increased partnerships between the music producers/labels and GenAI music companies. Suno and Udio will also solidify their positions as the two leaders in the space. While we might not see a Grammy for AI-originated music just yet, it's on the horizon, opening up new opportunities for creators.

AI in Film Production

We're inching closer to seeing a Hollywood-style movie produced entirely by AI. While a full-length feature might still be a few years away, don't be surprised if we see AI-created short films making waves in 2025.

Gaming Personalized

The gaming industry will move closely towards on-demand game creation. An intriguing possibility is the potential for easier game upgrades, such as AI-assisted HD remakes of classic titles. While this might not fully materialize next year, we're definitely heading in that direction. I also expect gamers to become more forgiving of AI generation in games once they see its potential.

On the legal front, I expect significant developments:

The EU AI Act will start providing a framework for governments as they begin crafting their own AI legislation. The first major area to tackle is for celebrity licensing and usage in AI, which will address a major issue from this past year. I expect they start here, given the financial impact.

Legislative efforts then will expand to more broadly curb the online exploitation of individuals, both of the explicit nature and the more generalized unauthorized use of someone’s names, image, and likenesses.

Hopefully we also get clearer guidance on AI regulations in general, as lawmakers catch up with the rapidly evolving technology.

As we move into the new year, I'm excited about launching new features and keeping you informed about latest AI updates in Media & Entertainment. Your feedback is crucial in shaping our content, so please don't hesitate to reach out with your thoughts or suggestions for topics you'd like to see covered in 2025.

Wishing you all a joyous holiday season and a fantastic start to the new year. Thank you again for your support, and I look forward to connecting with you in 2025!
